Vestibular Technicians are responsible for conducting thorough examinations of patients with vestibular disorders. Their primary duty is to administer a series of tests designed to assess the patient's balance and equilibrium systems.
Key Responsibilities:
• Greet and prepare patients for clinical testing, ensuring they understand the procedures and any potential risks involved.">
• Explain the principles of vestibular physiology and the data collection process in clear, concise terms.">
• Perform up to four clinical vestibular tests, lasting up to three hours, while maintaining continuous awareness of the patient's physical and mental state.">
• Tasks patients with questions during some tests to obtain optimal data.">
• Coaches or guides patients through the series of tests, considering their individual needs and condition.">
• Remains aware of potential risks to the patient, such as falls during postural stability testing.">
• Monitors the quality of test data and repeats segments where necessary.">
• Analyzes data from each test using interactive software.">
• Enters test results into a database for subsequent interpretation.">
• Ensures accurate and informative results by detecting and fixing minor problems, such as replacing faulty recording electrodes.
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need a strong foundation in basic sciences, particularly neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a college degree and 3-5 years of experience in a related position are preferred.
